Ralph Winter
Ralph Winter holds the Canada Research Chair in Business Economics and Public Policy in the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. He was previously a professor of economics at the University of Toronto where he taught in the Department of Economics, the Rotman School of Business, and the Faculty of Law. Professor Winter has published in the areas of industrial organization, the economics of insurance markets, regulation and competition policy. He coauthored The Law and Economics of Canadian Competition Policy (University of Toronto Press), which won the 2003 Doug Purvis Memorial Prize as the year’s outstanding contribution to Canadian economic policy. Professor Winter serves on the Boards of Directors of two Canadian companies: BC Transmission Corporation and Wurldtech Security Technologies Inc. He has consulted extensively for governments and corporations, especially in the area of competition policy, and has testified frequently for consumers in regulatory hearings. Professor Winter is a past president of both the Canadian Economics Association and the Canadian Law and Economics Association.
