Consulting firm Berkeley Research Group has appointed Tri MacDonald as principal executive officer. He succeeds David Teece, PhD, who will transition to the role of executive chairman.
Teece co-founded BRG in 2010, and has held the positions of chairman and principal executive officer. As executive chairman, Teece will continue to lead the company’s board and will focus on BRG’s long-term strategy, new initiatives, and thought leadership.
Teece is a renowned economist and an expert in industrial organization, antitrust and competition policy, and intellectual property. Teece is the author of more than two hundred books and articles, and has held teaching and research positions at Stanford University and Oxford University. He is currently the director of the Tusher Center for the Management of Intellectual Capital at the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
Aside from his work in academia, Teece has also been a consultant for more than thirty years, providing economic, business, and financial consulting to business and government leaders globally. Teece was previously the co-founder and chairman of The Law and Economics Consulting Group, which he co-founded in 1988 with other faculty at UC Berkeley.
