BRG Expands Paris Office to Strengthen Antitrust and Competition Practice

    Dr. Palomino brings decades of experience in competition economics and complex litigation, spanning energy, agri-food, transport, telecommunications, financial services, and media. Per a statement, he has advised on merger and antitrust cases before the European Commission, French competition authorities, and other international bodies. He has also served as an expert witness in litigation covering shareholder disputes, contract breaches, and follow-on claims.

    Alongside his professional work, Dr. Palomino holds a PhD in economics from the European University Institute and has held faculty positions at institutions such as Tilburg University, HEC Paris, EDHEC, ENSAE, and ESSEC. His academic research has been featured in journals including the Journal of Finance, RAND Journal of Economics, and Journal of Labor Economics.

    In his new role, Dr. Palomino joins a European team that already includes Brussels-based specialists Laurent Eymard and Xavier Boutin, both of whom maintain strong links to the French market. According to a statement, his appointment follows a series of senior hires across BRG’s global Antitrust & Competition practice, including additions in Asia-Pacific, South Africa, and Italy.

    Kai-Uwe Kühn, managing director at BRG and former chief economist at DG Competition, highlighted that Palomino’s skills in incentive, financial, and competition economics add significant depth to the firm’s European capabilities. Eymard and David Sunding, vice chair of BRG and co-lead of the Antitrust & Competition practice, also emphasized that his expertise reinforces the firm’s strategy of selective expansion and strengthens its ability to deliver cross-border solutions in arbitration, disputes, and regulatory matters.

    According to a statement, BRG has experienced international growth in recent years, with Palomino’s arrival marking another step toward consolidating its position as a player in complex competition and litigation matters across Europe.
