The European Commission received a complaint against Cisco Systems by its longtime rival Multiven service provider regarding the way Cisco offers system updates, the latest in a series of spats between the two.
Reports say that due to Cisco’s dominant position within the IT network sector, all maintenance service providers must be compatible with Cisco’s equipment, including Multiven. Now, Multiven is accusing Cisco of abusing that dominant position by bundling software bug fixes and other operating system updates
Multiven, founded by an ex-Cisco employee, filed an earlier complaint with the Swiss Competition Commission against Cisco last year, and yet another case between the two companies was settled in 2010.
