France: Merger to build EU elderly care market leader

The proposed merger between France-based elderly care providers Korian and Medica, announced Monday, will reportedly result in the market leader in the EU, a move made in efforts to promote innovation in the sector.

    According to a press release, the combined business would lead to the largest throughout Europe for elderly care; the companies hold significant stakes within France, Italy and Belgium, according to reports.

    The merger remains subject to clearance from France’s competition authority, as well as shareholders.
