France: Mobile operators agree to protect competition, offer wholesale 4G spectrum

According to reports, France’s competition authority has apparently given its support to Alternative Mobile, which represents France’s Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs, companies that provide mobile services but do not have their own licensed spectrum), as the industry group looks to require mobile phone operators to provide 4G wholesale offers to the MVNOs before the operators’ own 4G retail services begin. The network operators have agreed in their 4G licenses not to harm the commercial freedom of the MVNOs and to grant access to the 4G network at reasonable pricing, says the report.
