Germany: Deutsche Bahn Settles in US cargo antitrust suit

The cargo unit of German state railway Deutsche Bahn AG has reached a settlement with three airlines that colluded to inflate airfreight fees. The railway settled on Monday with Cargolux, SAS and Nippon Cargo.

    German rail operator Deutsche Bahn is in a $3.2 billion lawsuit against Lufthansa and other airlines for fixing air cargo prices.

    The company had announced in December it was filing lawsuits in Germany and the United States claiming compensation for damages incurred as a result of fixing prices.

    Deutsche Bahn is now seeking over 2.5 billion dollars from around 15 airlines, a sum that it said will exceed 3 billion once the claims of the other companies are added on.
