    Per a statement from Hausfeld, Global Co-Chair Brian Ratner emphasized that the trio’s experience will enhance the firm’s ability to advance private enforcement actions and secure redress for consumers. Ratner noted that their addition, along with recent hires Nick Murphy and Daniel Weick, reinforces the firm’s capacity to hold corporations accountable in complex, high-profile disputes.

    Cecilia Cheng joins the New York office after nearly ten years in antitrust law, including six at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. According to a statement, she served as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General, advising leadership across two administrations on competition policy. Her work in the Division’s Appellate Section included litigating cases involving algorithmic price-fixing, information-sharing conspiracies, merger challenges, and criminal trials.

    Daniel Margolskee will be based in Hausfeld’s Philadelphia office following his tenure as Chief of Civil Litigation at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. Per a statement from the firm, he led enforcement efforts, defended the office in civil matters, and provided legal counsel to senior officials. Margolskee also worked as a prosecutor on cases related to public corruption, contraband, and trafficking, and argued twice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Earlier in his career, he clerked for Judge Barrington D. Parker, Jr., on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

    John Thompson joins the Washington, D.C. office after over a decade as Senior Litigation Counsel at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. According to a statement, Thompson played a central role in landmark enforcement actions targeting unfair and abusive lending, debt collection, and payment-processing practices, achieving major recoveries for consumers. He previously served as an Assistant Attorney General in New Mexico, where he successfully litigated cases against payday lenders.

    Per Hausfeld’s announcement, the firm views the new additions as part of a broader strategy to deepen its expertise in competition and consumer protection law.
