Ireland: Competition Authority intervenes to protect competition in book sales

Eason & Son Limited, a whole sale retailer and supplier of books, newspapers, stationery and magazines operating in Ireland and Northern Ireland, and Argosy Libraries Limited, an independent Irish wholesaler of new books, have confirmed today to the Competition Authority, that they will not implement the proposed transaction whereby Eason would acquire certain assets of Argosy, following a decision by the Authority to initiate proceedings against them.
