Leading Scholar in Economics Joins Compass Lexecon

Compass Lexecon announced that Hunt Allcott, a professor at Stanford University’s Doerr School of Sustainability, has formally affiliated with the firm. According to a statement, Allcott brings expertise in industrial organization, environmental economics, and behavioral science, with research spanning digital platforms, consumer markets, automobiles, and energy. His methodological contributions have been applied in areas such as consumer protection and antitrust related to online platforms.

    Per the announcement, Allcott’s work has received attention from major media outlets including The Economist, the New York Times, NPR, and the Washington Post. His research has appeared in leading academic journals such as the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Review of Economic Studies, and Science. In addition, he currently serves on the board of editors for the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy.

    Beyond his academic role at Stanford, Allcott co-directs the Stanford Environmental and Energy Policy Analysis Center, is a research associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research, and is affiliated with ideas42 and the Poverty Action Lab. According to a statement, his prior roles include visiting positions at Harvard and MIT, a tenured professorship at New York University, senior research work at Microsoft Research, and fellowship involvement with the MIT Energy Initiative.
