South Africa: Does antitrust watchdog have a scandal of its own?

In response to allegations that the nation’s Competition Commission in embroiled in a maladministration, financial mismanagement and victimization scandal, the Public Protector has announced that it has launched an official investigation into the watchdog. The Commission has seen a slew of resignations in the past year and a half, and a spokesperson for the Protector says that the probe was initiated from “corporate governance failure.” Previous investigations into the Commission sprang from employee complaints of mismanagement.
