UK: CMA launching 3 new anti-cartel positions

The UK’s Competition and Market Authority has announced plans to hire experts for three new director roles aimed at the watchdog’s anti-cartel efforts.

The CMA is now seeking a new director of criminal enforcement, reports say, as well as a director of intelligence and director of digital forensics and intelligence. The new positions will boost the regulator’s ability to identify and combat cartels.

Reports say the director of criminal enforcement will be given to a lawyer and allow the CMA to pursue cartel cases.

The new positions were announced as the CMA readies to pursue several major anti-cartel cases next year. Several of those cases involve the healthcare industry, according to reports, as well as a case into the supply of water storage tanks.
