US: New FCC head Tom Wheeler appoints antitrust lawyer as senior counselor

The newly-appointed Federal Communications Commission head Tom Wheeler announced new appointments to the regulator Monday, which included the appointment of antitrust lawyer Philip Verveer as Senior Counselor to the Chairman.

According to reports, Verveer practices antitrust and communications law for 35 years both in the government and private law firms.

Most recently, Verveer served as US Coordinator for International Communications of Information Policy at the US Department of State.
