Casual Dining Chain Preps Mobile Payment App

Another restaurant business is investing in a mobile payment platform.

Twin Peaks, a casual dining restaurant chain, has teamed with MyCheck to create its own mobile payment app that will rollout to the public in August 2015, Chain Store Age reported. The app will replicate features of similar mobile dining apps that enable customers to pay their bill using the mobile app — but also have the chance to view that bill and split it, too.

Twin Peak’s mobile app will also allow customers to choose how they want to pay within the app, which includes options like Apple Pay, PayPal, Google Wallet, along with debit and credit cards. The mobile app will also have built-in reward programs that will only be offered to customers who use the service.

“By partnering with MyCheck, we will not only extend our brand but provide guests with the speed and ease of secure mobile payments, including the option to order another round of beers, split the check among friends and pay — all from their phone,” Pete Bell, chief marketing officer at Twin Peaks, told Chain Store Age. “In addition, our app will allow Twin Peaks to automate how we reward our loyal customers, surprising and delighting them in real-time on their phones, with our promotional programs seamlessly integrated into our point-of-sale system.”

In the mobile dining space, mobile coupons have been a hot topic in mobile transactions, as the trends seem to show that consumers are turning to their mobile devices to find those deals. But the trend now, however, is integrating those mobile coupons into the in-app experience, so the friction of using a coupon has been taken out of the equation as much as the payment process itself.

And that’s what the rest of the apps on the market are also trying to emulate; that’s the market that Twin Peaks is joining — the one-stop shopping model for restaurants and restaurant-goers to turn to for their dining and mobile payment needs. But just like the mobile payment app space, the mobile dining app space is getting crowded.
