Germany: Postal giant heeds to competition regulators

Europe’s largest postal firm, Deutsche Post, has reportedly decided to abide by recommendations by Germany’s competition regulator and revise its pricing practices.

    According to reports, the German firm will change its mail pricing for high-volume customers, the Federal Cartel Office said Tuesday. Regulators launched an investigation into the company in 2012 to probe whether high-volume clients were getting unfair price cuts; critics said the pricing methods tried to force rival postal servicers out of the market.

    With Deutsche Post’s offer, reports say, the Office will now examine whether the concessions are sufficient to close the probe.

    The company declined to provide details on the matter.
