US: Samsung settles for millions cathode tube price-fixing case

Samsung SDI has reportedly agreed to settle price-fixing claims with a $33 million offer, the company’s lawyers said.

    Lawsuits were first filed in 2007 accusing Samsung and other manufacturers of fixing the price of cathode-ray tubes, which were used in televisions and computers. Since, more than $81 million in settlements have been reached.

    Samsung’s $33 million offer is the largest of those suits, reports say.

    The settlement, which is pending a judge’s approval, would close the case that accuses Samsung of the collusion beginning in 1995. If cleared, reports say thousands of product purchasers would be eligible to claim funds.
