Malaysia: MyCC follows-through on bid to tighten grip

Malaysia’s competition regulator issued fines on two airlines just days after the watchdog, the MyCC, vowed to take anticompetitive action seriously. Reports say the fines pay testament to the seriousness of the regulator’s stance on such issues.

    The regulator issued fines to state-run Malaysia Airlines and budget airline AirAsia for colluding in an agreement to ward off domestic competition; reports say the two abandoned such a pact since it was made more than two years ago.

    The two companies entered into a share-swap agreement and agreed to collaborate on market share, according to reports.
