UK: No contest for highway services company buyout

The UK’s Office of Fair Trading has announced it will not contest the planned buyout of Atkins’ UK Highways Services, first finalized by the parties in February. The acquisition will be made by Skanska Construction UK for about $27.6 million, and is set for completion at the end of the month. According to reports, Atkins controls thousands of kilometers of road across the UK and operates with about 1,200 employees in its highway services branch alone.
