Lawyers for class members who recently won a major multi-million dollar settlement concerning the price-fixing of dairy products are now asking for about a third of the settlement in attorneys. fees. According to a court filing, the attorneys are asking for a judge’s approval of a $158.6 million settlement – $52.8 million of which would be given to the lawyers. Members of the class, who sued defendants including the Dairy Farmers of America for the price-fixing of dairy products, affecting prices for dairy farmers, are calling the fees “excessive.” Attorneys at Baker & Hostetler, however, claim the firm has invested $53 million in the case as well as $8 million in out-of-pocket expenses.
