For yet another time, Ecolab, a chemical company specializing in sanitation products, has delayed its acquisition of Champion Technologies for $2.2 billion in response to the Department of Justice’s continuing investigation into the merger. The deal was originally intended to be finalized by the end of last year. Now, Ecolab announced that the acquisition will again be delayed, pushing beyond its most recent expected deadline of March 31. The company assures, however, that the deal will finalize before mid-April. The deal was first announced last October. The DOJ is currently investigating whether the transaction would lead to overlaps in the market that could hamper competition.
