Puerto Rico: Alleged collusion for water freight transport heads to court

A former top-executive of a water freight firm has been indicted in Puerto Rico for conspiracy to fix prices concerning the transport of goods between Puerto Rico and the continental US. Thomas Farmer, the former vice president of price management at Crowley Liner Services, has been charged of the accusations; the government says Farmer also colluded to suppress competition as early as 2005 until at least 2008. The Department of Justice announced the indictment was filed Monday. Reports say the company transports various products including medicines and perishable foods.
