Media are reporting that two beer companies have filed a motion to join the defendants list in the Department of Justice’s recently lawsuit against Anheuser-Busch InBev’s proposed takeover of Grupo Modelo. Constellation Brands Inc and Crown Imports distributor have filed the motion in US District Court for the District of Columbia in a move to lend its support to AB InBev. In response, AB InBev filed a memorandum to support the Motion to Intervene. Constellation is slated to acquire Grupo Modelo’s half of Crown Imports in a $1.85 billion deal, though the transaction is separate from the merger between Grupo and AB InBev, which would occur for more than $20 billion.
