US: Will merger creating world’s largest airline be announced next week?

Media outlets are reporting that an agreement to merge between American Airlines and US Airways could be reached as early as next week. The story, first reported by the Wall Street Journal, suggests that the transaction is may be announced in the coming days and would form the world’s largest airline in terms of traffic. The merged entity would reportedly continue to use the name American Airlines and worth more than $10 billion. Reports say, however, that a chance remains that the merger could fall through.
