The ComisioÌn Nacional de la Competencia (CNC) has opened formal proceedings against Mutualidad General de la AbogaciÌa for potential abuse of dominance. The CNC will investigate possible anti-competitive acts blocking new entrants from the market for social benefit services to bar association members and their families.
The probe is prompted by a complaint filed by Alter MuÌtua de PrevisioÌ Social dels Avocats de Catalunya a Prima Fixa. Alter Mutua alleges that Mutualidad General de la AbogaciÌa blocked the spread of information about Alter Mutua as an alterative to the Special Social Security Scheme for Self-Employed Workers (RETA) in Spain. It is further claimed that Mutualidad General de la AbogaciÌa refused to allow members to switch to Alter Mutua.
