In a letter submitted to the court on October 24, Compass accused Redfin of resisting subpoenas and obstructing the discovery process for months.

The company asserts that the materials could demonstrate that Redfin and Zillow coordinated policies restricting listings shared on competing platforms. Per US Herald, Compass maintains that both firms acted in concert to limit market competition by aligning their property access rules and entering into a secret rental deal.

The dispute comes amid broader scrutiny from regulators. The Federal Trade Commission and multiple state attorneys general have already filed lawsuits accusing Zillow and Redfin of forming an anticompetitive rental arrangement.

According to US Herald, Compass contends that this same agreement “gave rise to the conspiracy directly challenged in this case,” echoing claims that the $100 million payment was intended to prevent Redfin from promoting multifamily rental listings and strengthen Zillow’s dominance over online real estate markets.
