Argentina: Publishing giant wins reprieve against new gov’t legislation

Argentina’s largest media company has won a reprieve on recently-implemented regulations on the market that would have forced the company to divest some of its assets. Grupo Clarín is exempt from the legislation that would have taken effect on Friday but is now on hold until a federal court can rule on the company’s lawsuit that the legislation is unconstitutional. Until the ruling, the government is barred from auctioning off Grupo Clarín’s assets. The company publishes one of the most widely-circulated newspapers in Latin America.
