Australia: ACCC reviews baby food merger

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is currently reviewing a proposed takeover of Rafferty’s Garden Pty Lid., owned by Anacacia Capital, by H.J. Heinz co. Rafferty’s is Australia’s second-largest organic baby food supplier. Anacacia overtook Rafferty’s management in 2010 and acquired 30 percent of its market share. The ACCC will announce its decision on the deal on December 6.
