Australia/New Zealand: Air NZ, Virgin snag five-year partnership extension

The joint venture between Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia, which operates between Tasmania, has been granted another five years of operations by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

    The alliance extension was granted so long as the companies maintain capacity on certain routes.

    The parties were originally cleared for a three-year partnership last July. Following more submissions, the ACCC agreed on a five-year partnership, according to a statement released by the watchdog.

    The partnership will be up for review again in September 2015, say reports.
