Australia: Queensland Competition Authority warns of bill hike for solar panel users
The Queensland Competition Authority has released a report which suggests residents could see up to a $240 increase in electricity bills due to the recent rise in solar panel system-usage. The rise is an increase of more than 12 percent over the current annual average electricity bill. In what is called the Solar Bonus Scheme, the QCA has also found that its growth has already added an average of $26 per household bill. Energy Minister Mark McARcle has noted that Ergon and Energex are projected to pay an excess of $670 million in capital and administration costs by 2015 as a result of the Solar Bonus Scheme.
