Brazil: Dawn raids launched against suspected wheat flour cartel

 |  April 18, 2013

Brazil’s antitrust regulator CADE has announced that dawn raids were performed last month in a mission to gather documents from companies suspected of forming a cartel within the wheat flour industry. CADE initially requested to carry out the raids and was granted approval by the Federal Courts after allegations that the companies met in secret to discuss market-sensitive information including prices, terms of sale and division of the market. Those who did not agree to the secret agreements were allegedly punished by the companies.
