    Canadian North and First Air have both confirmed plans to combine, a deal their parent companies, NorTerra and Makivik, respectively, say will be a “merger of equals.”

    The deal, the companies say, would “improve the sustainability” of the companies and heighten the quality of customer services.

    Financial details of their plans were not disclosed, and the deal would remain subject to regulatory approval.
