Competition Commission addresses Transnet’s concerns with Actom-Savcio merger

 |  February 7, 2012

The Competition Commission addressed Transnet’s concerns with the Actom-Savcio merger before a Competition Tribunal hearing. Actom is an electrical equipment manufacturer; Savcio is a service, repair and import company.

Transnet Rail Engineering warned that anticompetitive effects in the commutator market would result from the merger. The Commission nevertheless took the position that alternatives to obtaining commutators could be made available, and that Actom could be required to continue to supply commutators on the same terms, as a condition of the merger.
