E.U.: Commission looks to help cartel victims more easily win compensation

Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia has said that new legislation may be in the near future that would make it easier for the victims of cartel conspirators to sue the perpetrators and gain compensation. In light of its recent fine of nearly $2 billion to price-fixers of CRTs, the European Commission says it wants victims of cartels to more easily be compensated in private damages lawsuits. The new proposals would also include guidelines to what is available to them by E.U. regulators to strengthen their claims against corporations who participated in cartel activity.
