E.U.: Commission stands up to Russian gas monopoly Gazprom

Russian gas monopoly Gazprom is currently under investigation by the European Commission, who recently opened an antitrust investigation into the company’s alleged unfair pricing and prevention of product diversification. The United States and NATO have previously shied away from opening their own investigations, as the move by the E.U. has strong implications for Western relations with Russia.
