EC confirms unannounced inspections of electricity trading companies

The European Commission has confirmed unannounced inspections of companies managing power exchanges, to investigate possible cartel behavior and restrictive business practices. These companies provide services that facilitate electricity trading at the wholesale level. Inspections occurred in several member states, with the cooperation of the European Free Trade Association Surveillance Authority. Europe’s two largest electricity exchanges have confirmed inspections: Nord Pool Spot AS and Epex Spot SE.
