New details have emerged since the European Commission confirmed it had carried out surprise inspections of various auto exhaust systems makers earlier this week.
While the Commission did not disclose which companies were searched, France’s Faurecia, Germany’s Eberspaecher and the US’s Tenneco have both confirmed they were the subject of the searches. The companies searched are suspected of colluding to fix the car parts’ prices.
The dawn raids were announced as competition authorities in Japan, the EU, US and other countries continue their investigations into allegations of car parts price-fixing.
Tenneco also released a statement Wednesday that announced the company has been subpoenaed by the US Department of Justice in a similar investigation, noting that it is fully cooperating with authorities.
