EU/Switzerland: Competition authorities agree to share antitrust info

The competition regulators of the European Union and Switzerland have signed an agreement to collaborate on matters of antitrust as the two look to strengthen competition policy. According to reports, the European Commission and the Swiss Competition Commission plan to share information pertaining to various competition investigations, but most importantly will be able to exchange some confidential information even if prior consent has not been obtained. The contract, deemed the Cooperation Agreement, includes the regulators notifying each other when proceedings or investigations are opened, coordinating searches and investigations, and exchanging information. Both the European Parliament and the Swiss national assembly have approved of the deal.
