While France’s telecommunications regulator Arcep has expressed support for the deal, the authority said it is set to scrutinized the planned network sharing agreement involving operators SFR and Bouygues, say reports.
Arcep announced plans to analyze the agreement in a press release Monday to ensure that the wireless operators meet two conditions: they must remain independent from each other, and the agreement must not squeeze rivals out of the market.
Arcep acknowledged the benefits of such an agreement, noting that network sharing can lead to improved quality of service and increased coverage for consumers.
The companies first began to map out plans for the venture in early-2012. Rival Iliad had looked to join the partnership last November, reports said.
