Nearly one dozen domestic and multinational beer breweries are now under watch by Germany’s Federal Cartel Office following allegations of price-fixing, say reports.
Eleven breweries, including Anheuser-Busch InBev, are under investigation by the watchdog for allegations of manipulating beer prices for several years, said one unnamed source. Some company representatives, including from Veltins, Krombacher and Warsteiner, confirmed they were under investigation; AB InBev, the world’s largest brewery, similarly confirmed the probe to reporters. The German regulator did not name the companies involved however.
If an investigation results in evidence the companies conspired to fix beer prices, the companies could be fined up to 10 percent of their annual revenue.
