Germany: Oil probe put on back burner for now

An investigation into Germany’s oil refiners and transporters has been temporarily put on hold while the nation’s antitrust authority focuses its energy on the implementation of an energy market transparency campaign. The authority, called the Bundeskartellamt, launched its investigation into oil refineries last September and announced it would look into oil wholesale trading activities. A spokesperson for the authority said negotiations have already been made at this point with industry representatives. That same spokesperson also noted that the transparency system’s implementation must take priority ahead of the oil investigation.
