Germany-based Deutsche Telekom announced plans to acquire a fixed-line operator within Poland in part of efforts to diversify operations in the nations that holds central Europe’s largest telco market, say reports.
Deutsch Telekom, which already owns Poland’s second-largest wireless network T-Mobile Polska, declined to name potential targets, though the company’s CEO Miroslav Rakowski said possible buyouts do not include Poland’s second-largest fixed-line firm, Netia SA.
The executive did say, however, that the chances are “very high” for the company to initiate a takeover by the end of the year.
According to reports, the company is looking to add fixed-line operations to its portfolio in Poland, where harsh competition has forced Deutsche Telekom to cut prices in the country.
