India: CCI undecided on probing e-retailers

 |  March 22, 2015

Fair trade watchdog CCI is likely to decide next month on whether to order a detailed probe into allegations of unfair business practices against e-retailers.

“There have been complaints against the online retailers; we have recently heard the informant on what their grievances are and we have heard the online retail companies,” CCI Chairman Ashok Chawla said here.

“… May be in the next month or 45 days we will be able to take decision on whether this matter needs to be investigated and we need to proceed under the competition law or whether it is not a matter concerning the competition,” he said.

The Competition Commission of India had received a complaint against online retailers including home-grown giant Flipkart for alleged unfair business practices.
