Israel Corporation unit Oil Refineries Ltd. has asked the Antitrust Authority for a guaranteed supply of gas from Tamar. Israel Corporation is in the middle of negotiating an agreement with Tamar, and therefore is not yet a Tamar customer.
The head of the Antitrust Authority, David Gilo, is reviewing energy companies’ gas supply agreements with Tamar to see if they need revisions to make the gas supply market more competitive. Tamar is the only source for gas supply in Israel for the next couple of years, but it cannot satisfy all of the country’s gas demand. Thus gas can only be guaranteed for current Tamar customers.
