According to unnamed sources, the shareholders of joint fiber optic venture IBC see threats in various potential deals throughout the telecom market in Israel.
IBC shareholders are reportedly concerned over discussions of a possible joint network venture between competitors Hot Mobile Ltd. And Partner Communications Ltd., as well as similar potential plans between Cellcom Israel and Pelephone Communications.
Partner and Cellcom are IBC’s top potential clients for fiber optic infrastructure development, but sources say the company’s shareholders are concerned the possible deals – which are currently only in the discussion phase – could threaten the success of IBC.
But reports say that the nation’s Ministry of Communications, as well as the Antitrust Authority, will need to take into consideration IBC’s concerns should the potential mergers materialize.
