Kazakhstan/Ukraine: Poultry imports banned for dumping prices

Inspections of various Ukranian poultry factories found, along with safety and quality violations, evidence of anticompetitive practices that put products at dumping prices in Kazakhstan, leading Kazakhstan to ban Ukranian poultry imports. Reports say the inspections found that Ukranian and Russian producers of poultry products were injecting poultry with water to lower the prices; the producers are now accused of dumping and, according to the nation’s Minister of Agriculture, the dumping caused domestic poultry production to fall by 30 percent in recent months.
