AirAsia Bhd is appealing today against the RM10 million fine imposed by Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) in two-day proceedings at the High Court here.
The budget carrier is appealing against the fine imposed for a government-led equity tie-up between AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines (MAS) that was inked on Aug 9, 2011.
This partnership fell apart and was officially called off by the matchmaking agency Khazanah Nasional Bhd on May 2, 2012.
Despite the deal being called off, MyCC proceeded with the anti-competitive probe when the Act enabling it came into force on Jan 1, 2012 – after the AirAsia-MAS deal was instituted.
