Norway’s wireless operator Telenor is facing claims of an illegal margin squeeze and may soon face an investigation by the EFTA Surveillance Authority, reports say.
The largest operator in the Nordic region is suspected o having “charged prices resulting in an illegal margin squeeze on its competitors,” according to the Authority, which oversees the compliance with EU rules for Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. The regulator released a statement on the matter on Wednesday.
The company will likely also be probed over contracts made with retailers regarding the supply of telecommunications devices and services, reports say.
Telenor was raided by national competition regulators in 2012 for allegations of anticompetitive behavior in the European Economic Area, according to reports.
Telenor said it will cooperate with regulators in the case.
