Poland: PM dismisses competition head

Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk has dismissed the nation’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection head following a government reshuffle, say reports.

PM Tusk announced Monday that Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel will remain in the position until a replacement is found but has been dismissed.

In a statement, the government said that such a change is necessary to prevent consumer harm; “we need something more than a daily routine,” a spokesperson said.

Krasnodębska-Tomkiel had been in the position since June of 2008, according to reports.
