It seems as if media conglomerate Zon is nearing its merger with telecom company Optimus. According to reports, Zon’s shareholders are expected to approve of the merger, which is also looking like it will pass with Portugal’s authorities. Sources say the Regulatory Authority for the Media has passed along its opinion of approval to Portugal’s Competition Authority. The Authority is reportedly waiting on a non-binding opinion from the National Communications Authority, Anacom. The merger will include a name change for Zon as well as a shake-up in the executives committee.
