Saudi Arabia: Government announces new anti-price-fixing agenda

The Minister of Culture and Information for Saudi Arabia announced new efforts to crack down on price-fixing and spiraling consumer prices, say reports. Abdul Aziz Khoja announced government plans to “step up monitoring” of prices at a meeting of the Council of Ministers last Monday. Specifically, the officials said they would develop a database of pricing patterns of goods and services throughout the nation; the government said it would also work to monitor product hoarding in efforts to promote “a congenial atmosphere for healthy competition,” said Khoja.
